FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Little League Field Renamed to Billy Smith Field
On March 10, 2001 the "Executive Board of
Directors" passed a proclamation to rename our Little League Field to Billy
Smith Field. On April 4, 2001 before Rollin Thunder's (Coached by Billy Smith)
first game of 2001 at Little Oaks we held a presentation in honor of Billy and
his family for their contributions, time, and effort on renovating the
field. He was very surprised. A sign in his honor was hung on the backstop. It
takes people like Billy and Sharon for our park to continue to grow and prosper.
Below is a transcript of our Proclamation:
PROCLAMATION
We the Mabelvale Youth Association's "Executive Board of Directors"
on this the 10th day of March in the year 2001, do hereby proclaim that Little
Oaks Ball Park's field #2, ie Little League Field, be called, from this day
forth, Billy Smith Field.
We would like to thank Billy and Sharon for their generous contributions,
time, and effort that they have provided to improve Little Oaks Ball Park to be
one of the best youth baseball and softball complexes in the Little Rock area.
